Sumatran Tiger - Critically Endangered Species

Sumatran Tiger
As with all tigers they are on the decline but with the Sumatran Tiger especially it is a critically endangered species meaning there maybe only 400 hundred individuals left in the wild.

One can see from the photo above it is a magnificent beast, proud in its forbearing and fierce in its demeanour. It is a subspecies of tiger that comes from the island of Sumatra, in Indonesia. Although it is small than other species of Tiger the male is often 8ft in length and the female 7ft.

The population is in decline mainly because of deforestation and loss of habitat due to palm oil production and agriculture. There are efforts to save this beautiful wild cat from the Sumatran Tiger Trust.
