Goats Beard Flower

At first sight one would think of this flowering plant as a dandelion with that impressive seed head, but it isn't, it is Goats Beard or Salsify, and belongs to the genus Tragopogon though we have no idea what particular species it is. We found it beside the Manchester Ship Canal near Warrington, UK in June 2009.
