Callanish Stones, Isle of Lewis, Scotland
These standing stones
are magical. They look like a group of old men contemplating the nature
of the universe. The miracle is that they have stood on the Isle of
Lewis for thousands of years largely undamaged. Please don't go there,
not because it is not worth seeing, it is very special, but because
it might turn into the circus that is Stonehenge. Let the souls of ancient
peoples who inhabit these places rest in peace and no Wallace Arnold
coaches, please !

It's believed that the Stones where first put up from 2900 to
2600 BC, that makes them nearly 5000 years old.
One theory is that the stones are aligned to the setting of the
moon in Mid summer but no one really seems to know.
From a brief search of the internet its true purpose cannot de
defined beyond the usual ideas of a calendar of the moon and stars or the
worship of Gods.
We say, let it's mystery remain in the mists of time
soak in the spirits of the past.
